Because the chain rests on the plastic scrapers, there is no steel-on-steel contact. This saves energy, reduces noise and saves costs. In addition, they are easy to (dis)assemble and there is no need for guide and wear strips. There are several types available: standard Nylon, heat-resistant Zytel, glass fibre reinforced, FDA quality and a detectable version. They can be mounted on both the drop forged chain and the double drag link chain. The table below shows the various types with the associated chain.

These scrapers are also commonly referred to as cleaning strips, sweepers, plastic sweeping strips, residue-free makers, L-shaped cleats or plastic profiles.
